Immigration White Paper Update
We are aware that the recent announcement about the Immigration White Paper is causing concern for our Non-UK Serving Personnel and Families. The NFF Immigration Team have received additional information from the MOD Lead on Immigration and Nationality Policy and can confirm that:-
- The Immigration White Paper was published on 12 May 2025, setting out the UK Governments policy to reduce migration and regain control and order of the immigration system.
- The Armed Forces and their families are not part of the skilled worker visa route and the reforms it will have.
- There will be a new family policy in 2025, and the MOD will work with the Home Office to ensure the rights of Service Personnel, veterans and their families to reside in the UK and become British citizens are protected in line with this Government’s commitment to them, in the Armed Forces Covenant. This is reflected in the White Paper on page 43, paragraph 148. Please be assured that NFF will ensure that the Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel and families voices are heard on this issue.
